Better Alternatives to LiposuctionWe all desire what is aesthetically pleasing. Today’s society dictates that a slim and slender body is always pleasing to the eyes and evoking a certain level of sensuality. Fat is always out, and slim is always in. Quite frankly, we believe that no one today has ever thought that fat will be the next fad.

To deal with the unwanted fat and cellulite, advanced medical techniques have been devised. A lot of people are lured to the idea of weight loss without exercising that they are more than happy to pay considerably just to get their bodies to look that they want.

Liposuction, or lipoplasty, has become the ultimate shortcut for most people wanting to get the excess fat off their bodies instantly. Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery procedure to contour the body by surgically removing the fat underneath the skin. If your thighs, buttocks, abdomen or even your neck is packed with extra fat, liposuction can be one of the most effective means to instantly shed it off.

However, while a lot of satisfied physicians and patrons celebrate the merits of liposuction, there are those who argue against its safety. They contend that there are better and safer means to quickly shed off unwanted fat.

How does liposuction work? Is it effective? Is it safe? Are there any side effects?

While most liposuction advocates guarantee its safety, the procedure is still extremely invasive. It employs the use of a cannula or a hollow tube inserted through the skin where the fat lays. The fat is then aspirated or sucked out of the body. While the cannula is sealed in sterilized packaging prior to use, the danger of infection is still a possibility worth paying special attention to.

Yes, there are possible side effects associated to liposuction. The documented dangers and side effects include:

  • Swelling of the affected area
  • Extended healing time
  • Bruising
  • Skin irregularities
  • Allergic reaction to medication
  • Excessive fluid loss
  • Damage to skin or other vital organs
  • Discoloration or sagging of skin
  • Numbness

Quite alarmingly, there were a number of cases of death relating to liposuction. Between 1993 to 1998, five deaths in New York City were recorded associated with tumescent liposuction procedure.

Breakthrough alternatives and how they work

In the midst of the entire scare associated to the risks surrounding liposuction, new and better approaches to remove fat are on the rise. Some alternative approaches include topical administration of cream that is supposed to melt away fat. This was inevitably debunked by advocates of invasive procedures, arguing that fat lies beneath the skin, and it can’t be removed by just wiping a cream on top of the skin.

However, a new breakthrough has recently been let out in the open that significantly reduces fat at levels that no cream, pills or diet can achieve. The procedure has also been proven safe and effective, without the needles, creams or invasive procedures. This groundbreaking cellulite treatment uses a powerful combination of light, energy and specially designed rollers that smooth out the skin surface to substantially reduce the dimpling from cellulite. It also re-contours your body’s curves, giving you a firmer and curvier-looking shape.

The procedure has a four-pronged approach to attacking the cellulite that includes the use of infrared light, radiofrequency energy, vacuum-pulsed negative pressure and the aforementioned specialized rollers. These elements contribute to fat-melting and cellulite elimination that is 10 times faster than previous treatment methods, providing clients the results they desire sooner, and most importantly, safer.

As you consider your options to achieving a sexier look, think hard whether to take the shortcut but rather risky route or the safer means that does not compromise the result you wanted.

Very enlightening. I didn’t know liposuction could be so dangerous. So many people go through it anyway.. I guess a lot of people just really want to look perfect. They’re willing to risk all the health hazards just so they can look like Malibu Barbie or something… Thanks for this. I learned a lot from it!
